2 Women Charged In Ellicott City Walmart Assault, Theft: Police

Howard County police said one of the shoplifters assaulted an employee who tried to stop her.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Police said two women were charged in connection with an assault and theft at the Ellicott City Walmart. The incident occurred early Monday morning.

At 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, authorities were called to the 3200 block of North Ridge Road for a violent shoplifting incident at Walmart. Two women stolen items from the store, and one of the suspects assaulted an employee who tried to stop them, officials said.

Both suspects were arrested.

A 28-year-old Gwynn Oak woman was charged with robbery; second-degree assault; one count of theft from $100 to $1,500; and one count of theft less than $100. She was being held without bail and had a bail review hearing in Howard County set for Wednesday, Oct. 10.

A 52-year-old Baltimore woman was charged with robbery; theft from $100 to $1,500; and theft under $100.

Police said nobody was injured.
