3 HoCo Students Receive Scholarships From SECU MD Foundation

The SECU MD Foundation Scholarship Program has awarded $115,000 to students across the state, including three from Howard County.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD —Three Howard County students have received scholarships from the SECU MD Foundation Scholarship Program. They will be attending a trade, technical school, college or university for the fall 2021 semester. The SECU awarded a total of $115,000 in scholarships to students across the state.

Those Howard County recipients are:

  • Simon Barn from Clarksville, who will attend the University of Maryland, College Park
  • Christina Asare from Elkridge, who will attend Georgetown University School of Medicine
  • Samantha Steinberg from Ellicott City, who will attend the University of Delaware

Since the scholarship program’s inception in 2007, SECU and the SECU MD Foundation have awarded more than $700,000 in scholarships to more than 250 students statewide to help offset the financial burden of earning a degree.
