Man Convicted On 8 Counts After Raping Teen, Sex Abuse: Howard County Prosecutor

A Howard County man has been convicted of incest and rape. He will be sentenced in July, prosecutors said.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — An Elkridge man has been convicted of raping and sexually abusing a Howard County girl.

On Nov. 2, 2022, Howard County Police and social workers were called to the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard in Elkridge after a report had been received that Deron Dave Barnett, 37, had sexually abused a family member, according to police.

The teenager told police that Barnett had raped them and had been abusing them for years, the Howard County Police Department said.

Barnett was convicted of two counts of sex abuse of a minor, three counts of rape and three counts of incest. He will be sentenced July 10.

The charges carry maximum sentences of 10 to 25 years in prison.
