80th Howard County Fair Features Music, Exhibits, Livestock Shows

The 80th Howard County Fair runs through Saturday with live music, games, rides, exhibits, livestock shows, demonstrations and food.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The 80th Howard County Fair continues this week through Saturday with an array of fun activities, exhibits, shows, food, music, games and more.

The fair is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily with the rides open until 11 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the main gate. The fairgrounds is located at 2210 Fairgrounds Road in West Friendship.

A few of the highlights on Tuesday at the fair are the Blue Ridge Arabian open breed show at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. rabbit show and a 9 a.m. swine showmanship show. The annual mule pulling contest kicks off at 6 p.m. and a 7 p.m. concert by Jay Henley and the Stonebrooke Band.

Wednesday's fun features an 8:30 a.m. open hand spinners sheep show, a 9 a.m. rabbit agility contest, 10 a.m. English/Western play day horse show, a baking contest at 5:30 p.m. and a lawnmower contest at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday, fairgoers can watch an 8 a.m. horse and pony show, a 9 a.m. broiler show, an 11 a.m. honey extraction demonstration and noon cornhole tournament. The turkey calling contest kicks off at 4 p.m. followed by a 5 and 7 p.m. sheep dog herding performance.

Friday's schedule includes a horse-driving demonstration at 10 a.m., a market turkey show at 10:30 a.m. and the 4-H and FFA livestock sale at 5:45 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be a rocketry contest at 9 a.m., a jumper schooling show at 9:30 a.m., a baby contest and miniature parade at 10:30 a.m. and a garden tractor pull at 11 a.m.
