Adorable Adoptable Pets Of The Week In Howard County

These pets are searching for their forever homes. They currently are at the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Meet Patch's Adorable Adoptable Pets of the Week available from the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Apple is 8 months old and is very happy to meet anyone, the shelter said. They believe he will be a medium- to large-sized dog once full-grown since he is 32 pounds now. He is a neutered male, mixed-breed that appears to have some Whippet in him. Since he loves to jump and run, he would enjoy having a large yard for playtimes. Since the shelter doesn't have a history about Apple, they do not know how he will do with other animals or children. If you have a dog at home, you can schedule a time to have them meet and see if they are a good match. Apple has a sweet personality and will try to climb in your lap. He needs some basic training to learn his doggy manners, though.

Dexter is a 7-year-old large mixed breed dog who appears to be part border collie, the shelter said. Dexter is described as a very loyal dog who is looking for a dog-savvy home with someone who knows how to read dog body language. He can be a wonderful, playful dog when he is around people who understand him and prefers his people to be home often. He can be trusted alone in the house for short periods of time and is not destructive, the shelter said.

Dexter will expect you to give him tennis balls. He likes to carry them around and will remind you to throw them for him often. He is a good boy and brings them back to you when he is ready to chase them. Dexter is not used to being around children and with his training needs would do best in an adult home or a home with older children who understand dog body language. Dexter needs some training because he has times that he is overly confident and willful.

Pastel, a neutered male classic brown tabby with deep black and deep red/brown coloring is an estimated 3 years old. This poor guy was so thin and hungry when he was found, the shelter shared. He actually walked into a warehouse looking for food and now is so happy to have fresh cat food and a soft bed; he is gaining his weight back. Pastel is a laid-back cat who is very vocal and will meow at you when you talk to him. He has a deep raspy voice that just makes you smile, the shelter shared. Pastel would enjoy a gentle, quiet adult home or a home with older children who understand to move slowly until he gets used to you. He is curious and likes to be held; however, he gets nervous quickly.
