Adorable Adoptable Pets Of The Week In Howard County
These pets are searching for their forever homes. They currently are at the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Meet Patch's Adorable Adoptable Pets of the Week available from the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Thelma and Louis are two female parakeets looking for a home. They both enjoy sitting on their perch listening to their humans speak to them and make parakeet noises in response. They are curious in nature, yet sensitive to quick movements. If you move slow and talk gently, both Thelma and Louis will sit and talk with you.
September the guinea pig was abandoned outside all by herself and taken to the shelter by a caring person who spied her dangerously skittering around outside. She is incredibly friendly and happy, and will start purring as soon as a human touches her. She loves following people around and being with them. She likes to explore a large cage, play in boxes and tunnels, and burrow through grass. Her curiosity and cuteness are too much.
Beautiful Diamond is a young American Pit Bull Terrier mix who is very loyal and smart. She is easy to train if you have time to show her what you want her to do. She is extremely sweet and affectionate and will melt in your lap if you sit with her on the floor. She just looks at you with the most soulful eyes. Diamond can be shy in new situations, so she needs a calm person with time to take her out to explore new places and socialize her with new people. Diamond is already crate trained for when she stays at home alone. She is still working on her potty training and needs taken outside often to help her learn to go potty outside. She did not live with children currently, but played well with neighborhood children. She likes to chase a bouncing ball and has enjoyed time in the yard playing with another dog, too. Due to landlord and insurance pet policies, Diamond’s adoption requires her owner to own the home where they'll live. It is best if her new owner have a fenced-in yard for her to exercise and stay safe.

Oreo has stunning coloring and markings, and can't wait to go her furever home. She is quiet and bashful in the busy cat room and will hide under her bed until you go in and pet her to tell her everything is okay. Oreo would be most comfortable in a quiet adult home with someone looking for a sweet kitty companion. She is very loving with her person and once she trusts you, she likes to be held, too. She will remind you with nose nudges to keep petting her. Oreo lived with another cat and a dog and they got along just fine.
