Adorable Adoptable Pets Of The Week In Howard County

These pets are searching for their forever homes. They currently are at the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Meet Patch's Adorable Adoptable Pets of the Week available from the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Mistletoe is a sweet 3-year-old female cat in need of a new home. Mistletoe is a bashful girl and will politely request to climb onto your lap for snuggles. Since she was found as a stray, shelter staff do not know how she will do in a home with another cat or a dog. Since she is so timid and sound sensitive, she will require a home where there are no small children that may startle her.

Dolly is a 7-month-old female pit bull puppy. Dolly is a sensitive pup and will need a family that can commit to her required obedience training and socializing. Dolly is a playful pup and will benefit from having another dog in the home that matches her rough play style. In order to be approved to adopt Dolly, you must own your home and have a fenced-in yard.

Peshei is a precious 1-year-old female British shorthair mix. Peshei is an affectionate kitty and cannot wait to join your family. With her previous family, she did not interact with children, other cats or dogs. Here at the shelter, she isn’t too happy when she sees other cats so she may be more comfortable as the only pet in the home.

Tinsel is so friendly and so happy to be around people. She is goofy and loves to run and play. She's also is very smart and loyal. With a training class and some bonding, she will listen well to a consistent person. Tinsel is a lovely size at 46 pounds and she is a mixed breed dog. Her adorable floppy ears will surely make you smile every day. Tinsel walks well on leash with reminders. She likes to take sniffing walks to explore all the smells on the ground. She will need to be taken out to potty often to help her learn her new potty schedule in your home. Due to landlord and insurance pet policies, Tinsel’s adoption requires you to own your home. She would also do very well with a fenced yard to keep her safe and give her space for running and exercising. If you have a dog at home, you would need to schedule an appointment to have them meet Tinsel. She needs a proper, calm introduction to new dogs so she can have some time to get used to them. Once Tinsel knows the dog is not going to challenge her, she will eventually play.

Groucho is a handsome 7-year-old neutered male cat looking for a home to call his own. Groucho enjoys playtime with the volunteers at the shelter. He also enjoys his independence and explores his surroundings to occupy his time. Groucho came to the shelter as a stray so shelter staff do not know how he will do in a home with another cat or dogs. He will prefer a quiet adult only home that has big windows for him to bird watch.

Pancake is a 1-year-old guinea pig looking for a quiet, gentle home. She is absolutely adorable and talks to you, making her “wheek wheek” sound when she is happy to see you. Pancake will do okay with children who understand to move slowly and be gentle with her. She will sit with you in a towel and she did not give us any trouble to trim her nails. She needs some time to get to know new people. It doesn’t take much to gain her trust if you move slowly, talk gently and have a piece of apple or carrot for her.
