GoFundMe Created For Couple Who Lost Home, Belongings In Fire

A couple who lost their home and their belongings in a fire earlier this month has had a GoFundMe created for them.

COLUMBIA, MD — A GoFundMe has been set up for Ronni Egebrecht and her husband, Luis Alcazar, who lost everything in a recent house fire in Columbia.

"When they awoke to the fire, Luis, being a former volunteer EMT and firefighter of 30+ years, jumped into action to get his wife to safety. Through his selflessness, Ronni was able to get out with just minor burns," wrote Kimberly Fleming, friend of the couple.

However, Alcazar was severely injured and spent time in the burn unit of the hospital.

Any funds raised will go directly toward covering their immediate needs, things like clothing, food, shelter, other essential items and medical costs.

"Every dollar will help them as they begin to rebuild after this tragedy," Fleming wrote. "Ronni and Luis are caring and friendly members of our community that never hesitate to help others. Ronni is known as the pet lover in the area and helps many neighbors by walking their dogs. They are very grateful for the first responders and the support of their community. Please know any support will make a huge impact on rebuilding their lives."
