HOWARD COUNTY, MD — When a momma raccoon became stuck in a tree trying to reach her babies, a concerned neighbor called Howard County Animal Control to help.
Once animal control officers safely rescued and released the masked mom, they realized that she had been trying to reach her babies who were stuck deeper inside the tree.
The kits were too young to climb out and the tree was too narrow for the mom to reach them. So firefighters were called to the scene and, using special tools, the emergency workers rescued the babies who were reunited with their mother, according to the fire and rescue department.
