• Judge rules Howard County man charged with stabbing wife is competent to stand trial (cbsnews.com) — An Ellicott City man accused of fatally stabbing his estranged wife at a home on Huntsman Run has been ruled competent to stand trial, with court dates set for early 2027. The case follows prior protective orders and earlier assault-related charges, raising concerns about domestic violence protections affecting families in and around Ellicott City.
• Elon University chaplain crafts altar, ambo for his order (dioceseofraleigh.org) — A regional Franciscan friary in Ellicott City will house a custom-built traveling altar and ambo crafted by a North Carolina campus chaplain, to be used for special liturgies when churches aren't available. The project reflects years of his woodworking experience and will regularly bring these sacred pieces into use at provincial gatherings connected to the Ellicott City community.
• 2 MD Men Charged In Penn State Cocaine Ring Case (patch.com) — An Ellicott City resident and another Maryland student have been charged with misdemeanor roles in an alleged cocaine distribution ring tied to Penn State fraternities, but were released from custody this week. Authorities say the case involves more than a dozen people and stretches back to 2023, with most of the drugs allegedly sold to university students.
