ELLICOTT CITY, MD — This year's Holiday Maker Mart and Open House offers the highly anticipated, locally crafted artwork and gifts, as well as the opportunity for people to visit artists' studio spaces - but in a new space.
Hosted by the Howard County Arts Council, the event will be held at the Capitoline Center in historic Ellicott City, located at 8360 Court Avenue, Dec. 3-4 from 4 to 9 p.m.
"We're super excited to bring our Holiday Maker Mart to the Capitoline Center for the first time," Miles Warren, art center director, told Patch. "Our new space and more central location provide an exciting opportunity to welcome even more of the community to shop for artistic goods from talented local makers and artists. We're thrilled to continue this holiday tradition in our new home."
The free event will highlight handcrafted gifts and artwork created by local artists, including jewelry, wearables, accessories, paintings, glass art, photography, prints, wooden vessels, pottery, greeting cards and more.
As part of the event, the studios of HoCo Arts' resident artists and arts organizations will be open to visitors on Dec. 3 from 7 to 8 p.m. Guests can meet artists, check out their creative spaces and enjoy entertainment.
Applications from potential vendors also are being accepted now through Nov. 1 until spaces are filled.
"We're looking for a variety of vendors offering high-quality, handmade and original work, including artists, makers, craftspeople and other creative small businesses. Products might include artwork, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, woodwork, home décor, accessories, gifts and other unique, handcrafted items," Warren told Patch.
