Shared-Use Path Project In Elkridge Highlighted At Meeting

ELKRIDGE, MD — A new shared-use path along the north side of Montgomery Road will be discussed at a community meeting on Wednesday starting at 5 p.m.

The new shared-use path would run from Rockburn Drive to Brandons Way on the north side of Montgomery Road, and along the south side of Montgomery Road between Brandons Way and Bellanca Drive.

The project has been designed to improve both pedestrian and bicycle safety by closing a gap in the existing sidewalk network along Montgomery Road between Rockburn Drive and Cullins Way.

Proposed improvements include the installation of new pedestrian crossings, signage and pavement markings, and the construction of storm drainage and stormwater management infrastructure to improve drainage in the area.

The project is currently in the preliminary design stage.

The community meeting will be held in the media center at Rockburn Elementary School, which is located at 6145 Montgomery Road.

"The Montgomery Road Shared Use Path project ... will help connect community members to Rockburn Elementary School, Rockburn Branch Park – East, and neighboring community destinations. As we move this project through the design phase, we want to hear directly from the people who live in the community, as public input will help us ensure these improvements reflect the needs of our residents and create safer, more comfortable connections for all," Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said.
