The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT ended 2012 with 77% of the deposits needed to begin construction on the continuing care retirement community along Frederick Road in Ellicott City. A total of 129 deposits were received through December 31, 2012. “Activity increased significantly in the fall,” said Vice-President for Marketing and Communications Brenda Becker. “The economy and the real estate market are improving, leading to optimism among seniors that they will be able to sell their homes when they need to and at the price they need to move forward with their retirement plans.” Phase I of the project will include 215 apartments, 25 homes, 20 assisted living suites and 12 skilled nursing beds as well as dining venues, a clubhouse and a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center on 50 acres next to the Howard County Public Library Charles E. Miller Branch & Historical Center. Harkins Builders of Marriottsville has been selected to build the facility and Williamsburg Homes in Columbia will build the homes. Construction is expected to begin 90-days after the requisite number of deposits are received. The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT is a proposed continuing care retirement community subject to approval by the Maryland Department of Aging. Pre-construction home deposits are now being taken on a first-come basis.
