Apartment Fire Displaces Residents Who Sought Shelter At Nearby HCPSS School
An apartment fire early Sunday morning was traced to a chimney. The fire affected numerous residents who sought shelter at a nearby school.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday, firefighters responded to a call about an apartment fire in the 5600 block of Columbia Road in Columbia.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found flames coming from the backside of the apartment building. They entered the complex and found the source of the fire in the chimney chase, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
Two adults and one dog have been displaced because of the fire. They are being helped by the American Red Cross.

Affected apartment complex residents were sheltered at the nearby Running Brook Elementary School until they were allowed back into their apartments.
