Burned Bones In Suitcase Found On Ocean City Beach
An Ellicott City couple wading in the waters at Ocean City found a suitcase that had burned bones and personal items inside, police say.

OCEAN CITY, MD — An Ellicott City couple wading in the waters in Ocean City found a suitcase that had bones and burned personal items inside, police say. The grisly discovery was made Tuesday morning off Homer Gudelsky Park in the water. The suitcase contained personal effects that appeared to be burned, and bones, according to the Worcester County Maryland Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said about 12:30 p.m. that they were waiting on a dive team to remove the suitcase from the water to determine what else is inside.
The park where the case was found is located at the end of Route 707, Old Bridge Road, in West Ocean City. The land is directly across from the Ocean City Inlet of the Sinepuxent Bay, according to the county parks website. This location has access to the waterfront and anglers can fish from the shore.

WBOC TV reports that the couple found the suitcase about 9:30 a.m. stuck in the sand at Stinky Beach. They reportedly opened the case and saw shoes, clothes and what may be bones. It's not known yet if the bones, which appeared to be burned, are human.
The Worcester County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police and Maryland Natural Resources Police are investigating the case. A state medical examiner is on the way to retrieve the bones, as well.
