Centennial Park Steel Bridge To Be Replaced In Ellicott City
Construction is expected to begin Monday, Oct. 21, to replace a steel bridge at Ellicott City's Centennial Park with a fiberglass one.
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 21, on a new fiberglass bridge located along the pathway loop below Centennial Park's north pond. The new bridge measures 8x80 feet and replaces the red steel bridge.
"I am committed to ensuring Howard County remains a safe and healthy place for generations to come,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball in a statement. “The replacement of this steel bridge with fiberglass will require less upkeep and provide a more environmentally-friendly structure so that it can be enjoyed by all for many years.”
Weather permitting, the project is expected to take three to four weeks to complete. Because the bridge site will be closed during construction, detour signs will be in place to guide park visitors around the site so they may continue walking the lake loop. For an alternate route during the bridge closure, please see the detour map.
