Chris Bugher Named Junior Achievement's Secondary Education and Outreach Director
Former educator, consultant and non-profit director comes full circle having participated in JA programming as a student

OWINGS MILLS, Md.–Junior Achievement of Central Maryland (JA) has hired Chris Bugher as its director of secondary education and outreach.
Bugher who participated in JA programming as a student, now supervises the implementation and expansion of the organization’s secondary programs. This includes directing all school and volunteer recruiting, training and program management; monitoring programs to ensure quality and impactful outcomes, and promoting programs to educators and school systems.
“I credit my involvement in JA Company Program during my high school years for the development of my own leadership and entrepreneurial abilities, and I am delighted to join the staff of JA of Central Maryland,” Bugher said. “I look forward to working with dedicated teachers and volunteers to ensure that secondary students are provided with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a global economy.”

Bugher holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology/elementary education from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and a master’s degree in education, reading/learning disabilities and advanced credits in organizational development from Johns Hopkins University.
A former teacher, reading specialist, educational consultant, business owner, training manager and non-profit executive director, she recently was the community health promotion manager for Healthy Howard and an adult literacy instructor for the Community College of Baltimore County.

Active in the community, Bugher serves on the board of Bridge of Hope National and volunteers at Bridgeway Community Church as a tutor for adults who need development of their literacy skills. She resides in Ellicott City.
