HOWARD COUNTY, MD — As of Monday, Howard County has a total of 20,028 positive new coronavirus cases and 253 deaths, according to the Howard County Health Department. The state has 474,555 confirmed cases and 9,641 deaths total, reports the Maryland Department of Health.
The following zip codes have the highest confirmed case counts in Howard County as of Aug. 9:
- 21043 - 2,735 confirmed cases
- 21044 - 2,694 confirmed cases
- 21045 - 2,604 confirmed cases
- 20723 - 2,492 confirmed cases
- 21075 - 2,475 confirmed cases

The CDC advises doing the following to stop the spread of the virus:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If this is not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Keep six feet of space between people.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
