Driver Died In US 29 Crash: Howard County Police
Police said the driver hit a light pole, which fell one two other vehicles Saturday night.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD - An Eldersburg man died Saturday night in a crash on US 29 near US 40, police said.
Charles Allen Honaker, 28, of Eldersburg, was driving north on US 29 near the ramp to US 40 east when his vehicle left the road, hit a tree and a struck a light pole, authorities reported.
Honaker was ejected from his 2003 Nissan Altima after the crash, which occurred at 11:08 p.m., according to the Howard County Police Department. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The light pole that Honaker hit fell into the road and caused a minor collision between two other vehicles, which officials reported did not cause other injuries.
The ramp from US 29 north to US 40 east was closed until about 1:30 a.m.

Based on their preliminary investigation, police said that speed appeared to be a factor in the collision.
