Driver Killed When Car Crashes Into A Tree, Passenger Seriously Injured: Howard Co. Police

One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a Wednesday evening crash that happened near Woodbine along Frederick Road.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — One person has been killed and another serious injured in a single-vehicle collision that happened in Woodbine Wednesday night.

According to the Howard County Police Department, at about 9:45 p.m., a 2001 Honda Accord driven by 62-year-old Samuel Wayne Bowman Jr., of New Windsor was traveling east on Frederick Road near Daisy Road when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree.

Bowman Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. A man who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Frederick Road near Daisy Road was closed for approximately four hours after the crash.
