Driver Seriously Injured In Route 40 Crash: Police
Route 40 was temporarily closed in the area of Pine Orchard Drive for two hours, according to police.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD - One driver was seriously injured in a crash on US 40 Monday afternoon in the area of Pine Orchard Lane, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Police said a man driving a Volkswagen Jetta hit two cars at 12:14 p.m. on Pine Orchard Lane, then proceeded through a red light, where it was hit by a vehicle headed east on Route 40.
The Jetta hit a fourth vehicle on Frederick Road, according to officials.

The driver of the Jetta - Robert Gambrell, 38, of Ellicott City - was taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where police said he was listed in serious condition Monday evening.
Nobody else was injured, according to officials.

Westbound Route 40 was closed at Bethany Lane, police said, and traffic was diverted onto Frederick Road for about two hours.
Police said the investigation was continuing.
