Ellicott City Man Gets Near 4-Year Federal Prison Sentence
Mark Kaiser pleaded guilty to securities fraud.

An Ellicott City man was sentenced to nearly 4 years in prison for securities fraud, according to the Associated Press.
Mark Kaiser, the former marketing chief at U.S. Foodservice pleaded guilty in August to one federal count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud. According to Bloomberg, the conspiracy was connected to a scheme wherein promotional rebates were reported as income.
On Wednesday a U.S. District Judge sentenced Kaiser to 3 years and 10 months in prison.

"The details are of serious fraud involving many different aspects and activities involving hundreds of millions of dollars,ā U.S. District Judge Thomas Griesa said before handing down the sentence, according to Bloomberg.
āI really feel that I must impose a sentence which gives due regard for the extent of that criminal conduct.ā

Kaiser, 54, pleaded guilty last summer after a 2006 conviction was overturned by an appeals court.Ā
