Centennial girls' soccer paces Howard County, EC Patriots continue to roll.

The Centennial girls' soccer team remained unbeaten after topping Hammond, 4-0, earlier this week. After the contest the Eagles stood at 9-0-2 overall, and 6-0-2 in the county. The Eagles outshot Hammond, 26-4, in the game and senior midfielder Nicki Mize and freshman forward Anna Mitchell each had a goal and an assist. The girls' team will host Oakland Mills today.
The Centennial boys' soccer team is 7-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the county. The Eagles are led by senior captains Andrey Pavlov and Ethan Adams and junior defender Peter Vorel. In goal for Centennial are juniors Jackson Bicknell and Teddy Sylvia.
Chapelgate girls' soccer remains atop the MIAA-C at 5-0 in the conference and 10-1 overall. The Yellowjackets have outscored their opponents 61-10 on the year. The Yellowjackets' boys team is at 7-2-1 overall, and 6-1-1 in the MIAA-C Black Division. The 'jackets have allowed only 12 goals on the season.

On the gridiron, The 11-13 National Ellicott City Patriots (5-2) face a tough opponent in the Western Howard County Warhawks (6-1) at Western Regional Park at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The 10-12 National Pats are 6-1 overall and are tied for second place in their 10-team league. Coach Paul Hatton's 11-13 Federal team takes on Columbia this weekend at Cedar Lane.
The Mt. Hebron Vikings (2-4) face Long Reach (3-3) at home tonight. This weekend marks Mt. Hebron's homecoming and one of the weekend's events will be a Saturday morning pancake breakfast at the high school. Centennial (0-6) hosts Wilde Lake (3-3). Following Wilde Lake the Eagles will face River Hill, Marriotts Ridge, and Atholton to round out their Howard County schedule. Ongoing updates on the Eagles and their Varsity and JV progress this season can be found here.
Howard football is presently 4-2 overall and is tied for fourth place in the county standings. They face Marriotts Ridge (0-6) tonight in Marriottsville.
In the college ranks, Salisbury (5-0) has ascended to the #5 spot in the Lambert Poll of ECAC football teams. Contributing to that rise have been the efforts of a group of Howard alumni. Sophomore defensive back Calvin Ford has 30 tackles, including 17 solo, through five games. Freshman Curtis Ford has added seven stops, while sophomore Drew Allebach has four tackles. On the offensive side of the ball, senior Tyler Curley has made the most of six attempts to compile 76 rushing yards and a touchdown.
