Mt. Hebron captures 2011 Holshue Cup

The Mt. Hebron Vikings faced the Centennial Eagles last Friday night for the Holshue Cup, leaving the field with a 21-14 victory.  The 2-2 Vikings kept Centennial (0-4) out of the win column; the Eagles had faced three tough Howard County opponents in a row coming into the game: Howard (3-1), Glenelg (4-0), and Hammond (4-0). Hebron will face Reservoir (1-3) this Friday on the road.

Despite the loss, Centennial running back Walter Fletcher was named The Greater Baltimore / National Football Foundation Howard County Player of the Week. Fletcher rushed for 206 yards on 28 carries.

As the varsity squad looks to right course this week against a solid Long Reach (2-2) team this week, the Eagles' JV roster is increasingly loading up with alumni of the Ellicott City Patriots' program. Some current Eagles and former Patriots on the JV team include: Kody Clark, John Kolp, Sam Clay, Eli Giest, Zulfeker "Zulfi" Husain, Tyler Boettcher, Brian Ouellette, Nick Hosel, Quinn Western, Aadil Mirza and Luc Chausse.
