Ellicott City Y Hosting Turkey Trot 5K

The Y in Ellicott City is holding its 6th annual Turkey Trot.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — On your mark, get set...The Dancel Y's sixth annual Turkey Trot 5K is planned to take place this Thanksgiving morning in Ellicott City. It is a rain or shine event, so before loading up on turkey, families can get outside and get moving.

Participants may walk or run the 3.1-mile course, which starts on Long Gate Parkway, continues on to Meadowbrook Lane, loops around and finishes at Long Gate Shopping Center.

Dogs may attend, and pooches who register in advance get a complimentary bandanna. Strollers are also welcome. Parking is at the shopping center or at the Dancel Y, 4331 Montgomery Road, Ellicott City.

The event is sponsored by the Y of Central Maryland. Proceeds go toward financial aid for youths who live at or below the poverty level.

The Ellicott City Y is not the only one hosting a Turkey Trot. The Y locations in Arnold, Baltimore, Bel Air, the Eastern Shore, Perry Hall, Towson and Westminster are also participating.

Turkey Trot participants do not have to be current members of the Y. If not a member, registration grants a 30-day free membership. Registration is from $5 to $42 depending on age.

The Ellicott City 5K Turkey Trot will be at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23, at Long Gate Shopping Center, 4390 Montgomery Road, Ellicott City. Participants should arrive by 8 a.m.
