Estranged Husband Fatally Stabs Wife In Ellicott City Home: Police

A man who is accused of fatally stabbing his estranged wife at an Ellicott City home later turned himself in to police, authorities said.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — A man fatally stabbed his estranged wife on Sunday at a home in Ellicott City, according to police.

Officers responded around 8:15 a.m. to the 3400 block of Hunstmans Run for a report that 53-year-old Alexander Stephenson had stabbed 47-year-old Amethyst Stephenson and fled, police said. Amethyst Stephenson was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Alexander Stephenson, who did not live at the home where the attack occurred, turned himself in Sunday at the Howard County police station in Ellicott City, police said, adding he is facing charges of first-degree murder and protective order violation.

He was taken to a hospital with self-inflicted wounds that were not life-threatening and will be booked into county jail upon release, according to police.
