The first annual Marshall Legacy Institute K9-9K Walkathon will be held on Saturday, April 16th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on the campus of Glenelg Country School. Registration for each walker is $25 and can be done online at www.marshall-legacy.org or on the day of the race at 9:30am for $30. All proceeds raised will go towards the MLI’s Mine Detection Dog program.
The Marshall Legacy Institute’s first annual K9-9K Walkathon is raising funds to increase the quality and quantity of lifesaving mine-detection dogs (MDDs) in war-torn countries. The event will include a 9K walk, special activities, educational booths and dog demonstrations. This is a pet friendly event and participants are encouraged to bring their dog(s).
The Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI) is a non-profit, international humanitarian organization that provides mine detection dogs, management training and mine awareness education to reduce suffering, and restores hope to people, especially children, in war-torn countries. MLI’s Children Against Mines Program (CHAMPS) educates American youth about the mine issue and provides students with a meaningful, fun-filled opportunity to make a difference in the world. It links U.S. schools with schools in mine affected countries via satellite video to foster global citizenship and to work together to assist young landmine survivors.
