Baugher's Farm was founded in 1922 by Russell Baugher. His daughter-in-law, Joan Baugher, has worked the farm for about 30 years and has been working the farm stand, now at 4775 Baugher Farm Road,Ā for just as long.
She lives on the farm, which is "family owned, family run," according to her grandson, also Russell Baugher. They grow produce on 13.5 acres in Ellicott City, but at one time, Joan said, they owned land out in Stonecrest, Wheatfield, Brampton and the land that's now the .

But it's not just development that has been eating away at farmland. Joan said deer, which have been displaced by cul-de-sacs and new roads, have been eating produce, andĀ opossum have been eating the Baugher's chickens.
To escape the suburbs and the wildlife, some of the the Baugher's farmland has been relocated to the Eastern Shore.

On Thursday the Baughers offered blackberries, cherries, tomatoes, squash, eggplant, raspberries and okra, as well as preserves and other jarred foods from McCutcheon's, a Frederick-based company.
