See the first Howard County screening of the award-winning documentary, “Two Who Dared: The Sharps’ War” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21 at Channing Memorial Church, Unitarian Universalist, Suite C, 3220 Corporate Court (off Pine Orchard Lane), Ellicott City. The film, with Ken Burns as executive producer, documents the story of two courageous Unitarians who helped refugees escape Nazi persecution in World War II. In 1939, Unitarian minister Waitstill Sharp and his social worker wife Martha left their two young children and the safety of their home in Massachusetts for Czechoslovakia to aid refugees. Soon after they arrived, the Germans invaded and the danger increased daily. The couple took the risk to shepherd Jews and others targeted by the Nazis out of the occupied nation. Discussion afterward led by the Rev. Susan LaMar. Donations accepted to help defray cost of screening. Light refreshments will be served. Information: 410-203-0474
