Fire Call In Historic Ellicott City Briefly Closes Maryland Avenue

BREAKING: Firefighters investigated haze inside a building Wednesday in Ellicott City.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD - Haze inside a building in historic Ellicott City Wednesday morning drew first responders to the area. The cause was later attributed to the HVAC system.

After 7:30 a.m., firefighters had shut down Maryland Avenue near St. Paul Street for the investigation.

While a light haze was found inside the building in the 3700 block of Maryland Avenue, crews said there was no heat and no fire at the location.

The incident was determined to have originated from the HVAC, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

After 8 a.m., the department reported that the road would be reopening.
