Firefighters Rescue Pets, Residents From Burning Ellicott City Home

A Howard Co. home caught on fire Thursday. Firefighters rescued the people and pets who lived there. The Red Cross is helping the family.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD— Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire Thursday shortly after 6 p.m. The home, located in the 10400 block of Petersboro Road in Ellicott City, was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The fire department shared on Facebook that firefighters found "heavy fire conditions" at the home's roof. They brought the fire under control within 45 minutes and had mutual aid support from Carroll and Baltimore county firefighters.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported. The Red Cross has been requested to assist the five residents along with their pets. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Maryland Office of the Fire Marshal.
