Free Meals For Students To Change When School Starts For HCPSS

Meals will be available to students continuing with virtual learning and any non-HCPSS students 18 and younger for pickup only on two days.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Starting March 1 when Howard County Public School System students start returning to the classroom, meals will continue to be provided to students whether they're in school or not.

Meals will be available for pickup from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at elementary school locations and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at middle and high school locations on the following weekdays:

  • Mondays – Students in Group V and/or non-HCPSS students age 18 and under
  • Wednesdays – Students in Groups E, A or B
  • Thursdays – Students in Group V and/or non-HCPSS students age 18 and under

There will be no pickups on Tuesdays and Fridays. Pick-up times/ andocations are subject to change based on individual school needs and/or staffing.

Students and their parents/guardians will continue to have the option to receive meals at their child’s school or at any designated meal distribution site. No meals will be picked up inside schools. Outside meal pick-up locations are identified on Nutrislice by school site. Only students receiving in-person instruction will be permitted inside school buildings, according to their schedules, however, and protective face masks are required for anyone picking up meals.

Meals will be available to students continuing with virtual learning, group V, and any non-HCPSS students 18 and younger for pickup on Mondays and Thursdays only and will include breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner.

  • Monday pickups will include meals for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Thursday pickups will include meals for Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
  • Online meal pre-ordering will be available on Nutrislice
  • All pre-orders must be placed two school days in advance
  • Meals may also be received without pre-ordering by walking up to any available meal site

Pick-up times at all meal sites will change as follows:

  • Elementary school locations: 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
  • Middle and high school locations: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

For students returning to school in-person five days a week, group E, students will go to the cafeteria to receive free breakfast, which will be eaten in the classroom or other designated spaces.

Students will go to the cafeteria to eat lunch brought from home or receive lunch, both of which will be eaten in the cafeteria or other designated areas. Social distancing and other safety measures will be enforced. All food served will be individually wrapped or packaged. Students will not be permitted to self-serve any items, including food, milk, condiments and utensils.

Dinner and snacks will be provided at lunch for students to take home at the end of the school day.
Lunch, dinner and snacks will be provided at breakfast for students to take home at the end of the school day on Wednesday.

Additional meals will be available for pick up on Wednesdays and will include weekend meals of breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner for two days. Pick-up times at all meal sites will change as follows:

  • Elementary school locations: 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
  • Middle and high school locations: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Pre-ordering weekend meals will not be available. Meals may be picked up Wednesdays by walkup at the student’s school or any available HCPSS meal site.
