Girl Dies After Dump Truck Hits Her In Ellicott City

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — A child riding a bicycle was killed Tuesday afternoon after she fell into the path of a dump truck in Ellicott City, authorities said.
The collision occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Daniels Road, according to Howard County police.
Police said the girl was riding her bicycle in the roadway when she fell into the path of a 2004 Sterling LT9500 dump truck.

Police later identified the girl as 12-year-old Sanvika Selluka, according to a Banner report. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Daniels Road was closed Tuesday afternoon as investigators processed the scene.
