Governor Plans Ellicott City Trip to Highlight Environmental Progress
Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley will take a look at local stream restoration effort.

The governor is coming to Ellicott City this week to highlight efforts to clean up the Chesapeake Bay.
Gov. Martin O’Malley will be in the Gray Rock area checking out a section of the Upper Little Patuxent River stream bed.
In September, workers began stabilizing the stream bed to filter runoff in accordance with the Clean Water Act, under the oversight of the State Highway Administration.

Grading, plantings and placing logs in the stream are among the design elements of the $1.7 million project, which is funded by a combination of state and federal dollars, according to the State Highway Administration.
Ultimately, the goal is to reduce sediment and improve water quality in this tributary.

O’Malley will be showcasing restoration progress in Ellicott City at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8. His visit is contingent on weather.
