Grammy-Nominated Group Tank And The Bangas To Perform With Howard County Youth Orchestra

The Howard County Youth Orchestra will perform in April with the Grammy-nominated group Tank and the Bangas at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Youth Orchestra will take the stage with Grammy-nominated musical group Tank and the Bangas at Merriweather Post Pavilion April 21 at 7 p.m. TATB is a funk, soul and hip-hop musical group out of New Orleans.

HCYO is comprised of students ages 14 to 18 from all 13 Howard County high schools. The orchestra has been recognized as one of the premier youth orchestras in the Mid-Atlantic region and they performed at Merriweather last year with national artist Guster.

The opening act will feature a graduate of Reservoir High School, Austin Antoine, a multifaceted performer whose range spans from soulful solos to rap challenges. Antoine currently serves as head of music for the Los Angeles-based non-profit, Get Lit. Tickets are available now.

“It is extremely exciting for current and former students to be featured as part of this performance,” said William J. Barnes, acting superintendent of schools for Howard County. “We are so fortunate in Howard County to have a venue like the Merriweather Arts and Culture Center that is able to bring in world-renowned artists while also uplifting the talents of our children and I am grateful for this wonderful partnership.”
