Howard County's Handmade With Love Campaign Seeks Scarves, Hats For Military Members

The Handmade with Love campaign is seeking knitters to make scarves and hats for military members to be mailed out by Nov. 3.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Office of Veterans and Military Families invites residents who like to knit or crochet to participate in the Handmade with Love campaign.

Participants will help create handmade scarves and hats for military members. Finished handmade items can be dropped off no later than Nov. 3 at one of several locations. A note needs to be pinned to each scarf or hat with the yarn fiber contents listed. Crafters are encouraged to include a personal note for the soldier who will receive the item.

Scarves should measure 4 to 6 inches wide and 48 to 50 inches long without fringe. Hats should fit an adult-size head. Colors should be subtle shades or earth tones such as blues, browns, olive, grays, maroon and black. Red, white and blue combinations are allowed. Materials can be wool, acrylic or non-flammable fleece.
