HCPSS Will Not Shut Down For Elections
HCPSS will count April 28 and June 2 as school days since the elections planned for these days will take place almost entirely by mail.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Board of Education has approved changes to the 2019–2020 academic year calendar. Originally, the Howard County Public School System was scheduled to be closed for Primary Election Day on April 28; however, the new coronavirus pandemic has prompted changes to the Maryland primary election.
HCPSS is now scheduled to be open on both Tuesday, April 28, and Tuesday, June 2, as the elections on these days will take place almost entirely by mail and HCPSS schools will not be used as polling places. School will be held virtually on these two days. The revised 2019–2020 calendar can be viewed online at https://www.hcpss.org/calendar/.
