Highest COVID Case Level In HoCo, Where To Find Vaccine: Dec. 28

According to the Maryland Department of Health, as of Tuesday, the state has 675,364​ confirmed cases.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — As of Tuesday, Howard County has reached a total of 24,023 positive new COVID-19 cases; 11,851 active cases; and 272 deaths, according to the Howard County Health Department. The state has 675,364 confirmed cases and 11,437 deaths total, reports the Maryland Department of Health.

The following zip codes have the highest confirmed case counts in Howard County as of Dec. 28:

  • 21043 - 3,298 confirmed cases
  • 21044 - 3,165 confirmed cases
  • 21045 - 3,095 confirmed cases
  • 21075 - 2,989 confirmed cases
  • 20723 - 2,920 confirmed cases

The CDC advises taking several measures to help stop the spread of the virus, including the following:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Stay 6 feet away from others.
  • Clean and disinfect.
  • Monitor your health daily.

As of Wednesday, 78.3 percent of Howard County residents have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, a total of 255,075 people. Fully vaccinated people comprise 75.5 percent of the county's residents, or 245,867 people. The most vaccinated segment of the county population happens to be those aged 50 to 59.
