The Howard County board of education's community advisory council is looking for volunteers. Express interest in serving by Feb. 18.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County board of education's community advisory council seeks volunteers to serve on the executive committee for the 2022-2023 school year. Nominations are being accepted for chair, 1st vice chair, 2nd vice chair, secretary and policy committee chair. The CAC functions as a liaison between the board and the community at large, meets monthly during the school year and reports directly to the board. The executive committee receives from the community concerns, information and inquiries about matters within the province of the board and researches issues as appropriate.
Executive committee members will lead volunteers as the CAC participates in HCPSS policy review. Candidates should be reliable, be able to lead discussions and be comfortable with public speaking.
Anyone interested in serving on the executive committee should email the nominating committee at hcpsscacnominatingcommittee@gmail.com on or before Feb. 18, indicating your name and the position(s) you are interested in. The committee will send out a candidate questionnaire to complete and return. To be considered for nomination, an individual should already be a CAC member or will need to attend the March 9 meeting in order to be voted in as a member prior to the election meeting on April 6.
