HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Gear up for the 2023 Howard County Fair that runs Aug. 5-12 by visiting the Howard County Living Farm Heritage Museum in West Friendship next door to the fairgrounds.
Currently operated by the Howard County Antique Farm Machinery Club, a nonprofit focused on preserving the county's agrarian past, the museum opened in 2005 on 400 acres of land leased from the county and now includes more than 20 buildings and various ag equipment dating from the 1600s to the 1960s, according to the Howard County Times.
Visitors to the museum can enjoy recreations of a general store, a one-room schoolhouse and sawmill, and other period buildings used before electricity arrived in the area. There's also a variety of hands-on activities available to guests.
