The Horses are Coming! The Horses are Coming!

Over 500 costumed horses and riders, ponies, mules, and decorated wagons will parade down Lisbon's "Main Street" this Saturday, December 13!

You’ll want to be along the parade route along Lisbon’s ”Main Street” this Saturday, December 13, well before the 4th Annual Lisbon Ol’ Fashioned Christmas Horse Parade begins at 11 a.m. The parade, now in its 4th year, has gained national attention as one of the East Coast’s largest equine events!

Over 500 horses, ponies, mules and riders - some with wagons, carriages and stagecoaches - will parade down the streets of Lisbon, Maryland in Western Howard County. Gleaming with the wonderment of small town Christmas spirit of yesteryear, the parade - free to spectators - has become one of Maryland’s best holiday family events!

All proceeds from sponsorships and entry fees benefit the local Howard and Carroll County food banks as well as the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department. In 2012 and 2013, the Lisbon Ol’ Fashioned Christmas Horse Parade contributed over $16,000 (combined) to the food banks and the LVFD. The parade officials are hoping to gallop way past that amount!

Local musician and performer, Miranda Judd, will kick off the parade with our National Anthem. The parade route officially begins on Route 144 (our Historic National Road) at Daisy Road and runs through Lisbon ending just before the circle. Although the staging area for the parade begins and ends near Morgan Station Road, the best location to view the parade will be in the town itself.

Entries are judged in the following categories:

There will be pony rides at the Lisbon Community Park, a chicken and ham dinner at the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department’s Fire Hall, and The Equiery’s Open House and Live Gift Mart (accompanied with live music by local performer, singer and guitarist, Miranda Judd).

The Lisbon Ol’ Fashioned Christmas Horse Parade has the support of the surrounding community and many generous sponsors and participants - too numerous to list in this article. For more information about the parade, please visit www.LisbonChristmasHorseParade.org or follow the parade on facebook.
