Hours will be extended at Howard County public libraries starting Aug. 30. Meeting and study rooms will reopen for public use, too.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Changes are afoot at Howard County public libraries. Starting next Monday the library system will be expanding its hours. It will be open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Starting Sept. 12, the library system will be open Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

Also starting next Monday:

  • Meeting and study rooms will reopen for public use. Both types of rooms will be available via an online reservation system.
  • Contactless pickup will change to self-pickup of holds at all branches, except Glenwood. Select items from designated shelves.
  • Bundle bags will no longer be available.

Masks are required inside all branches in accordance with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the county executive’s directive that all staff and members of the public are required to wear masks inside county buildings, which includes libraries.
