Howard County Arts Council Announces Two New Exhibits
Two new exhibits are coming to the Arts Council galleries on September 1st

On September 1, 2017, the Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) opens two new exhibits: Selections from the Rouse Company | Howard Hughes Corporation Art Collection: An Exhibit in Celebration of Columbia's 50th Birthday and Parsing.
Selections from the Rouse Company | Howard Hughes Corporation Art Collection celebrates the pivotal role the arts have had in advancing the ideals of Columbia and inspiring our community. Select artwork from The Rouse Company | Howard Hughes Corporation art collection – originally on display for visitors and employees to enjoy at the Rouse headquarters building but largely tucked away since the company’s relocation in 2013 – will once again be on display.
The public is invited to a special opening reception September 6 from 6:30-9:00pm featuring lively discussions and presentations reflecting on art’s role throughout Columbia’s past, present and future. Former Rouse Company employees will serve as guest docents, reminiscing and sharing ‘insider’ insights about the collection. Featured artists Vicki Scuri, Mary Ann Mears, and Rodney Carroll will take part in casual Q&A sessions, and William Cochran of Cochran Studio will talk about the transformational role of public art in cities across the country and the future possibilities for public art in Columbia.
Parsing presents collage works by artists from the EyeSplice Collective, including Megan Hildebrandt, Lauren Howard, Sarah Kelly, Magnolia Laurie, Cynthia Mason, Ellen Mueller, and Sarah Nicole Phillips.
EyeSplice is a group of women artists who incubate questions and develop work from a myriad of backgrounds and geographical locations.
