Art Maryland 2018 is the 21st multi-media statewide juried exhibit sponsored by the Howard County Arts Council. The exhibit began in 1984 as Maryland’s Best, an annual show running through 1989 and open to all Maryland artists. In 1990, when the show became a biennial, its name was changed to Art Maryland. The exhibit is open to artists who reside within a 100 mile radius of Ellicott City, which allows artists who work in Maryland but reside in other states (Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.) to apply.

In Gallery II, Director’s Choice is an exhibit curated by HCAC Executive Director Coleen West featuring artwork selected from Art Maryland entries. Selected artists include: Jennifer Becker, Cheng Cao, S. Mark Cates, Warren Chambers, Virginia Chandler, Kari Gillman, Catriona Gunn, Nataliya Gurshman, Caroline Hatfield, Sarah Higgins, Dilay Kocogullari, Megan Koeppel, Wyatt Mitchell, Kate Norris, Andrea Sauer, Peter Stern, David Therriault, Fahimeh Vahdat, Meghan Walsh, and Bonnie Zuckerman.

Both exhibits will be on display from November 2 through December 14, 2018. A reception will be held on Friday, November 9 from 6-8PM and will include remarks and the presentation of $1400 in Art Maryland juror’s awards by Ms. Ober.
