After Major Crash On I-70, Highway Reopens

A crash involving tractor-trailers on Wednesday shut down part of Interstate 70, officials say.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A crash on Interstate 70 snarled traffic for several hours Wednesday in Howard County. State police said that several vehicles, including three tractor-trailers, were involved in the collision on I-70 east past the US 40 split.

The crash happened before 9:30 a.m.

During the response, officials said I-70 east was closed past the exit for US 40. The left lane and left shoulder on westbound I-70 were also closed, and drivers were advised to take alternate routes.

By 2:45 p.m., the Maryland State Highway Administration reported all lanes had reopened.
