JOIN THE ARTS COUNCIL IN CELEBRATING NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH THIS OCTOBER

Celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month this October by supporting the arts in your local community

The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is joining Americans for the Arts and arts agencies across the nation in encouraging people to celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM) by supporting the arts in our community during the month of October.

HCAC will participate in NAHM with a special event celebrating public art. On October 15, The Arc of Howard County and the Arts Council will host a special ARTsites reception at The Arc from 6–7:30pm. Artist David Friedheim will speak about public art and his sculpture, Big Red, currently on display at The Arc as a part of ARTsites 2014, a year-long public art exhibit.

Coordinated by Americans for the Arts, National Arts and Humanities Month is designed to encourage Americans to explore new facets of the arts and humanities in their lives and to begin a lifelong habit of active participation in the arts and humanities. This month-long celebration grew out of National Arts Week, which Americans for the Arts, along with the National Endowment for the Arts, began in 1985. More information about National Arts and Humanities Month is available online at www.AmericansForTheArts.org/nahm.
