HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Public School System will hold its 16th regional History Day competition March 14 at Long Reach High School and needs judges for the competition. Judges review and evaluate student work based on criteria set by the national History Day Commission.

History Day is a national program promoting the study of history while providing a forum at which students compete in any of several categories: documentary, performance, exhibit, web page or historical paper. Howard County’s competition is part of the Maryland History Day program, which serves as the local affiliate for National History Day.

Award winners at the Howard County competition will represent HCPSS at the state competition; state winners will then compete at the national level. Judging takes place from approximately 8 a.m. –1 p.m. Judges are encouraged to stay through the awards ceremony.
