The organization will receive the district's prestigious Friends of Education Award during the April 15 board meeting.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Board of Education will recognize the Kiwanis Club of Ellicott City with its prestigious Friends of Education Award during the April 15 board meeting, which can be viewed live on Comcast channel 95 or Verizon channel 42 or web streamed.

The Kiwanis Club of Ellicott City has supported Howard County students since the club was chartered in 1940. Members of the club assist students in various ways, including through the sponsorship of Key Clubs at Atholton, Centennial, Glenelg, Marriotts Ridge, Mt. Hebron and River Hill high schools, through which hundreds of student participants contribute many hours of service to the community each year.

Additionally, the Kiwanis Club sponsors the Backpacks for Break service initiative with Cradlerock Elementary School and Lake Elkhorn Middle School, as well as a Terrific Kids recognition program at Bryant Woods Elementary School.
