Howard County Lake Reopens After Dangerous Algae Bloom Shut It Down
A popular Howard County lake has reopened for use by the community after a dangerous blue-green algae bloom shut it down this summer.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Centennial Lake in Ellicott City has reopened weeks after the harmful blue-green algae was found in the water.
The popular lake was shut down in July after county officials discovered the algae bloom, which can be toxic to both humans and animals.
"Good news! Centennial Lake at Centennial Park has reopened. It is once again open for typical permitted uses. Please call ahead to see if programs run by the county have resumed," Howard County Recreation and Parks posted on Twitter.
