Lane, Sidewalk Closures Impact 2 Ellicott City Roads During Project

Drivers and pedestrians should make note of lane, shoulder and sidewalk closures along two roads in Ellicott City for a project.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Temporary shoulder and lane closures will be needed this week as construction crews install new storm drain culverts and manholes, curb and paving, and resurface a stretch of two roads.

Work will take place along northbound Centennial Lane from 4345 Centennial Lane to the roadway’s intersection with Century Drive and along eastbound Century Drive from the intersection to 10137 Century Drive.

The project should wrap up by late November 2026.

Flagging operations will be in place and signs will be posted to alert drivers and residents of the construction work and temporary closures during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when schools are in session and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. when schools are not in session.

Signs also will be posted to alert residents of temporary sidewalk closures along Centennial Lane in the project area during some phases of construction. In addition to this sidewalk closure, approximately 100 feet of a shared-use pathway adjacent to northbound Centennial Lane and just north its intersection with Century Drive, may also be temporarily closed while work is taking place in that area.
